About Inkwell Press
An independent publisher crafting books worth keeping since 1998.
Our Story
Inkwell Press was founded in 1998 above a small bindery in a river town, with a single belief: that a book is an object worth making well. We started with one poetry pamphlet and a borrowed press.
Today we publish across fiction, non-fiction, art, and children's books — but the belief hasn't changed. Every title is shaped by hand, from paper weight to cover finish.
What we believe
We give every manuscript the editorial time it deserves.
Paper, type, and binding are never afterthoughts.
Responsible materials and fair partnerships.
We back our writers for the long haul.
"Publishing is a craft of patience. We'll happily wait three years for a book, so the moment a reader opens it, everything is exactly as it should be."— Margaret Ashby, Editor-in-Chief
