About Inkwell Press

Books built to last

An independent publisher crafting books worth keeping since 1998.

INKWELL

Our Story

It began on a cobbled street

Inkwell Press was founded in 1998 above a small bindery in a river town, with a single belief: that a book is an object worth making well. We started with one poetry pamphlet and a borrowed press.

Today we publish across fiction, non-fiction, art, and children's books — but the belief hasn't changed. Every title is shaped by hand, from paper weight to cover finish.

The Author

We back our writers for the long haul.

"Publishing is a craft of patience. We'll happily wait three years for a book, so the moment a reader opens it, everything is exactly as it should be."
— Margaret Ashby, Editor-in-Chief
